Injured Kawhi Leonard of the Los Angeles Clippers withdraws from the Olympics.
Los Angeles Clippers star and Team USA forward Kawhi Leonard will miss the upcoming Olympics in Paris, officials announced Wednesday.
Leonard, 33, has been dealing with a knee injury since L.A.'s first-round playoff loss to the Western Conference champions, the Dallas Mavericks.
"After consulting with the organization and the Clippers, it was decided that Leonard should focus on preparing for the upcoming season," stated USA Basketball.
Leonard participated in Games 2 and 3 of the series, which Dallas won 4-2.
Boston Celtics guard Derrick White has been added to the roster to replace Leonard.
Team USA already features two other Celtics players, Jayson Tatum and Jrue Holiday.
The star-studded American team, which includes NBA scoring leader LeBron James and 3-point specialist Steph Curry, will begin Olympic play on July 28 against Serbia in Lille.
